Introduction
I’ve been captivated by the Great Divide Mountain Biking Route since 2018, after I completed the TransAm, the cross-country gateway tour that changed my life for better or worse. I think the fires in the Gila may disturb your proposed itinerary, which provides you the opportunity to adjust the first few days to make it to Pie Town for pie! I think if you take Hwy 180 north from Silver City up to Glenwood, turn right on Bursum Rd (159), and ride the hills along the gravel past Willow Creek, then turn north, where it eventually reconnects to the GD route, you could make Pie Town on Monday, when it's open! We are starting from Separ on June 8, and averaging fewer miles/day, so it's unlikely we'll see you. Good luck!
